ENGINEERING & MATERIALS
Precision beneath
the surface.
Alter Ego Appearance develops its own combinations of fabrication, finishing and electronic control. The process is tailored to the machine.
Dimensional metal lettering
The studio integrates shaped metal characters into prepared panels, then finishes the surrounding surface. Material choices include bronze, silver alloys, stainless steel and titanium.
Digital design, physical craft
CAD and CAM guide purpose-made components, fixtures and toolpaths. CNC machining and laser processing support work that is then refined by hand.
Wood and protective finishes
Selected woods may undergo drying, polymer stabilisation and polishing. Powder coating gives metal panels a consistent surface while allowing polished details to stand apart.
Contemporary interfaces
Individual builds can incorporate custom displays, electronic counters and programmed meter graphics. Features depend on the original chassis and the agreed design; they are not universal specifications.
A changing workshop
Tools, materials and techniques evolve between commissions. That continuing development helps explain why one creation differs from the next.
